House expected to OK bill expanding health coverage for the mental health addiction AP via Yahoo News

The House is poised to vote on a bill to expand health insurance coverage for people needing mental health and addiction treatment. The legislation under consideration Wednesday requires equal insurance coverage for mental and physical illnesses when policies cover both. The bill was named for the late Minnesota Sen. Paul Wellstone who championed the issue of mental health parity for years. The Senate has already passed a narrower bill requiring more limited mental health and addiction treatment coverage setting the stage for talks between the two chambers if the House passes its version.
